Weeks of Guided Prayer take place in either a parish situation or at Thornhill Centre. The usual format of the week is as follows:
• A number of people in a parish request help in prayer.
• The Diocesan Prayer Guides will visit the parish in advance and put in place the necessary practical arrangements for the running of the Week of Guided Prayer.
• On Sunday evening, all those who wish to participate in the Week of Guided Prayer and those who will be involved in guiding the participants convene for an initial meeting.
• An outline of the week is presented followed by a period of group-guided prayer.
• Each participant is invited to meet a Guide, who will make arrangements to meet with and guide the participant in prayer on each day of the coming week. These meetings will last approximately half an hour.
• The week concludes on Friday evening, when the commplete group reconvenes for a closing ritual.
Thornhill Centre supervises Prayer Guidance throughout the diocese. Guides involved in a Week of Guided Prayer in a parish or at Thornhill Centre receive ongoing supervision.
