Those involved in the Ministry of Décor support those who worship through the variety of moods and timbres that they create in the church building. Good flower artists and Ministers of Décor provide visual compliments appropriate to the different liturgical seasons and celebrations. Many of those who serve the community in this capacity do so as volunteer workers who have a particular gift that they bring to their ministry.

Artists (including flower arrangers) are engaged in a holy invitation of God the Creator. They are involved in a ministry that should help people in their relationship with God through the liturgy. The banners and flowers, displays and décor speak in the colour and shape of creation and celebration.

The church building is, “The womb within which the life of the Church takes place.” The décor sets the context, the tone and the condition in which the community gives birth to a new song of praise to God, celebrated in the Liturgy.
At Thornhill Centre and other venues, there are seasonal workshops where participants share ideas, observe practical demonstrations and receive input on the tone and dynamic of each of the different seasons in the Church’s calendar. These workshops allow those involved in this ministry to learn from each other and grow in their understanding of the significance of the contribution that they can make to the spiritual life of the communities in which they serve.
