Private Retreat

Anyone is welcome to come to Thornhill Centre (by arrangement) to make a private Retreat. Staff will ensure that the house is particularly quiet at these times and will do everything possible to ensure to see that the needs of the retreatant are met.

Small groups occasionally book the Centre for their own self-directed retreats.

Summer Retreats

Open/Private Retreat

The Centre will be open for those who wish to make a Summer Retreat during the month of June.  If three or more come to Thornhill Centre for their private open Retreat, then a prepared Morning Liturgy, a noon-day Eucharist and a Night Prayer will be available to those who wish to gather in common to pray.  Prayer Guidance/Spiritual Direction will also be available to anyone who requests it.  Each June, a 10-day period is designated for this purpose ie to provide an opportunity for people to make as long or short Retreat as appropriate.

Preached/Led Retreat

Thornhill Centre provides an opportunity of a Preached Retreat each summer.  The attraction of Thornhill Centre for a Retreat of this type is that it is a small, intimate venue which affords individuals the opportunity of personal space as well as reflective input.  Further details may be found in the May/June Calendar of Events.

 
Advent Retreat

A residential Advent Retreat is offered each year in the Centre.  The Advent Retreat usually takes place from the Thursday that precedes the First Sunday of Advent. The retreat begins with evening tea on Thursday and finishes at Sunday lunch-time.  Details of this year’s retreat are listed below.  If you are interested in participating in this retreat, please reserve a place in good time as this retreat usually gets booked up quite early.  People who live close to Derry may choose to book onto this retreat as non-residents.
