Spiritual Direction is understood as the ministry of guiding others in their faith lives in a formal and ongoing way. Spiritual Direction is one of the oldest forms of Ministry that exists in the Church. Those from Thornhill Centre who engaged this Ministry have been trained in the Ignatian Exercises. Spiritual accompaniment is one of the most sacred of all Ministries, where the person who is accompanying another takes on a role of listening profoundly, gently guiding and permitting another to reveal what is taking place in the sacred space of the soul.
It is usual for a person seeking Spiritual Direction (who makes initial contact with the Centre) to engage an initial meeting period which spans four meetings, after which the person and/or the Spiritual Director will have the freedom to pursue further opportunities for Spiritual Direction.
Anyone seeking Spiritual Direction may contact Thornhill Centre at any time. The Sisters involved in the Centre have a number of people with whom they are journeying at present. However, anyone seeking Spiritual Direction other than from the Sisters can be put in touch with a number of other trained Spiritual Directors.
