A dimension of the work at Thornhill Centre is to provide back-up to parishes through supporting people who are actively involved in the celebration of liturgy and worship. The Centre provides training and ongoing reflection for those involved in the ministry of proclaiming the Word of God and for Eucharistic Ministers in parishes throughout the Diocese of Derry. 

Training courses for new Ministers of the Word and Eucharist are usually held in Thornhill Centre on a Saturday. If a parish prefers, a training course may take place at a parish venue and be facilitated over a few evenings.

The team from Thornhill is happy to provide courses in the way that best suits the needs of the parishes.

Occasionally, the Centre may be asked to provide days of reflection for people who already serve their parish in the ministry of the Word and Eucharist.  Such days are usually held in the Centre. These continue to be very successful. They give an opportunity to parish ministers to reflect on the service they offer to their parish and are an opportunity for re-commitment and dedication to the ministry.

Other ministries for which Thornhill Centre provides support are in the area of church care e.g. cleaners, sacristans, and also the music ministry e.g. conductors of church choirs, church music co-ordinators.
