Private Retreat

Anyone is welcome to come to Thornhill Centre (by arrangement) to make a private Retreat. Staff will ensure that the house is particularly quiet at these times and will do everything possible to ensure that the needs of the retreatant are met.

Small groups occasionally book the Centre for self-directed Retreats.

 Summer Retreat

The Centre is open for those who wish to make a Retreat during the month of June. Each day, a prepared Morning Liturgy, Eucharist and Night Prayer are available to those who wish to gather in common prayer. Prayer Guidance/Spiritual Direction is also available to anyone who requests it. By designating this 10-day period, Thornhill Centre hopes to provide an opportunity for people to make as long or short Retreat as appropriate for them at this time.

 Advent Retreat

As a lead-in to the Season of Advent, an opportunity for some quiet time and reflection is offered each year in the Centre.  These Retreat days allow those involved an opportunity to be still, take stock and prepare to embrace the two-fold purpose of ‘Advent-Time.’  We hope that this Retreat affords a sense of joy and wonder to those who participate.

This year, Father Francis Bradley will lead the Advent Retreat, beginning on Wednesday 23 November at 6.00 pm and ending on Saturday 26 November at 12.00 Noon.  Fr Francis is the Director of the Diocesan Pastoral Centre, Derry and Diocesan Master of Ceremonies.  He comes to Thornhill with his gifts of creativity, prayerfulness and warmth.  For more information, contact Thornhill Centre.
